Thurs Jan 28

Hi everybody, Its another rainy day in Texas with a thunderstorm and winds last night just for kicks. It was drizzly all day yesterday but that didn't stop anyone from baking up a storm for the potluck last night. It was soooo good. A variety of just about everything was there.I did my German coleslaw and 3 doz. oatmeal chip cookies. They all disappeared!Just about everyone in the park showed up .
This is another pic of the Sonoran Caverns.
Another formation in cavern.

Gale walking through part of cave.It took almost 2 hrs. for them to do the tour.
It was also hot and humid down there.
We will be on the road tomorrow heading to Choke Canyon south of here. Its a state park on a reservoir. We will be there for a week with no internet. Hopefully there's a library close by to do our computer stuff.I doubt that it will be much drier as its closer to the Gulf. Everyone have a great weekend and I'll try to do some posting for you. Addios Dee and Ron

Sun, Jan 24

Hi everybody. We had a great time today, starting with lunch over in Campwood at The Holy Smoke BBQ Restaurant. What a meal! Gale drove and on the way home on a side trip we came across these fawns in a field with the rest of the herd. We also came across this field of rusted farm machinery.Very imaginitive wouldn't you say. There was old trucks and wagons and lots of other pieces of equip. Mary & Tom thought it looked a bit like any farm around the Tennessee area. lol This was our campfire last night. We had a fickle wind so the smoke was in every direction. That wind did come up very strong in the night and gusted all day.Whew...

The following pics are of the Sonoran caverns. Tom sent them over and we have lots more. It was beautiful down there by the looks of it.

Cindy & Tom exploring.
Well so long for now. Take care all --Dee and Ron

Fri Jan 22

Hi everybody.Well Ron & Tom found something to keep them busy today--metal detecting- They did pretty good actually. Tom found around $3.00 in coins and this is Ron's find. a charm, sterling silver medal(St. Christopher) and over $2.00 in coins. There is something in the soil though that eats away at metal--some of the copper pennies have almost disintegrated. They were both very excited to find their treasures.
The weather turned really warm today and it got into the 70's later this afternoon. We went to a photography seminar this aft. and it was very interesting. The teacher had taken some great pics of wildlife in the area and landscapes from the fall season here. It sure was colorful then!
Everyone have a great weekend and we'll talk later--take care Dee and Ron

Wed Jan 20

Hi everybody.Well the weather went from a rainy day again to a beautiful sunny one at 69deg. its 5:15 and the sun is just about to go down behind the hill. The dog taking a nap on our picnic table is a catahoula leopard dog that we believe some one just dropped out front of park. It went from site to site looking for attention and finally a lady decided she would take it in. That lasted for 2 nites as the dog didn't get along very well with her cat.It has found another home with the dad of one of the guys who work here-on a farm up in the hills. A perfect spot with lots of space to run and play.
This is a little fawn who has lost its Mom to a hit & run. Ron and Tom got a few pics of it on their way to do some metal locating in Leakey. It should do alright as it was in the Garner Park property.Well thats it for today--have a great night ! ttul Dee & Ron

Thurs Jan 14

Hi everybody.Well its another rainy day in Texas with a thunder and lightning storm thrown in. we all decided to go to the Sonoran caves in Sonora up on #10 interstate. Gale ,her two daughters ,Greg and tom went through the caves which took about 2 hrs. These mts were on the way home through the Campwood area.
Myself,Ron and Mary decided to stay up top and check out the rocks for sale and watch the video of cavern from the sitting area. There is a sluice outside for which you can buy a bag of sand and pan for semi precious gems etc.

This is a birdfeeding area made from gourds that was out front of the camping area in the cavern property. It took approx. 3 hrs one way to get there in 2 vehicles.Ron and I had been in the Kartchner caves in Ariz. and it seems they were quite a bit the same .You can go on www.cavern.com and see this natural beauty. Its supposed to rain yet again tomorrow -yee-ha
Well bye for now take care Dee & Ron
