Hi everyone. Its been awhile but we are on the road again. We started from home on December 26 with over 2 " of snow on the ground. There was lots of slushy snow and gravel on the roads and overspray from the traffic. By the time we got near Monroe Mi. the snow had thinned to almost nothing and the sun was shinning. By 3:30 in Cinncinati Ohio it was 45 degrees.
Our truck looked horrible but not much we could do about it. We tried the shortcut to Louisville Ky. but made it to Grammy's R V Park in the usual time as we were held up with 2 hr. construction traffic jam.
Day 2-Dec 27 evening was David Crocket State Park in Tennessee. On the way down the Natchez Trace we noticed a strip of forested area 2 mi. long completely demolished from a tornado back in April of 2011.I believe that was when there were 162 tornados in the area at one time. We expected the free camping area to be gone-but no harm was done there. Slept in truck stop overnight DEc 28 and it wasn't too bad actually.First time ever we overshot and had no place to sleep. Walmart was our next choice.
Day 3 Dec 29 Travelled through Louisiana and into Texas. It was sunny and 70 deg.by this time. The palm trees were blowing in the breezes. We picked Pinchers R V Park this time and enjoyed the pullthrough spot. It makes it easy in the morning.
Had our windows open until after dinner when we finally had to close them.
Dec 30 We arrived in Hummingbird R V Park in Rio Hondo
by 2:00.Its cold and raining but temps are supposed to warm up by Wed. and then really nice by next week. Looking forward to that.
hope to have some pictures soon, Take care all -Ron and Dee
