Midnight and Snowflake--the swans at Lakeside RV Park La. Hi everybody, well we arrived home on Thurs, at around 7 p.m. It was a great day for travelling and we sailed right through Louisville Ky and on to Indianapolis. The traffic there was also light and Ron decided to boot it for home.It actually got warmer as we travelled north!!It sure is great to be here. This was a picnic area we stopped at on the Natchez Trace for lunch. The sun wasn't out at the time or it would have looked much different.

A view of Davis Lake -a campground just off the Trace where we stayed for 1 night.
We hope everyone enjoyed our blog this year (even with all our whining about the cold weather. Most of the USA had a weird weather pattern all winter). We did see lots of interesting things by travelling around this year and we met lots of interesting people too.
See you next year-

March 14,15 ,16

Hi everybody, On Sun/14 we arrived at Rocky Springs on the Trace. It was very sunny and warm. The dry camping is free there . They had hosts who had been there since Oct. and really enjoyed their job.
On Mon/15 we headed for Davis Lake Miss. which is just 4 miles off the Trace. It seems to be a big fishing spot for the locals and a really great park to stay in for overnight or a couple of days. The sites were huge and all paved-some long enough for motor homes.
Tues/16-we have arrived at the Davy Crocket State Park in Tennessee. Its 46 deg. and just a bit cool. But were not complaining-I think were both anxious to get home to our own bed .Its been almost 3 months since we left---hard to believe!!
Had another slight rv problem but Ron fixed that as soon as he found the right part here in Tenn. Our next stop tomorrow is at Grammies in Kentucky. So we should be home by Fri unless we stop longer at the next spot.
Hope Eric has made it home safely from the African coast.
Bye for now and see you soon Dee and Ron

SatMarch 13

Hi everybody.Well today was another beautiful sunny day with just a few odd clouds. It was on the cool side but all the kids here didn't seem to mind one bit..This homemade camper pulled in beside us this afternoon. The writing on the side.....Jim's Wild Thang--but so Paid 4--Pretty HuH.....Its from Mississippi and on the back reads GITR DONE.. Recycling at its finest. Its priceless really!!!!
This is the outdoor picnic section of 1 of the rally halls here. It is the largest of the two, right beside the lake. The campers you see in the background are at one end of the loop.

These campers are at the other end of lake and another loop. Its been great for walking.
Tomorrow we head out north into Misssissipi for the Natchez Trace. Our plans are to take our time --But again there's no internet until we hit a library .The weather looks great all week and hopefully no tornado warnings this year!
That police incident yesterday was a murder-suicide of 3 people-mother, father and 3 yr. old son.It happened just down the road a couple of miles.
I sure hope your having good weather and all that snow disappears soon.Have a great night. Bye for now Dee and Ron

Fri March12

Hi everybody, well today was a gorgeous day -70's and sunny. It has cooled down to 63 since but no one here is complaining. We are here in Livingston and the park is really nice. It is all cement pads with a 17 acre lake that has resident swans-a black one called Midnight and a white one named Snowflake, oh and a few Canada geese. No boats allowed in lake!
A couple from Wiarton work here, yes -his job is to escort the trailers to their sites and back them in. They live in Big Bay.what a coincedence eh and not a bad job to put in the winter.
There was quite a lot of excitement in the area this afternoon.15 or more police cars went flying past here and some ambulances . They were heading towards Interstate 10 south of here near New Orleans. We've been listening to the radio news to see what'a happened but have heard nothing as of yet.A couple i spoke with had a 2 hr wait on Int. 12 this aft.on their way here from Houston. They were not very happy.
We found Camper's world today in Hammond and bought a new toilet for the trailer. We couldn't just replace the broken lid-go figure!
On the way home we stopped for cheap gas at $2.54. Its been as high as $2.79 in most stations. It seems its been creeping up all winter down here. Bye for now --Have a great weekend y'all Dee and Ron

Tues March 9

Hi everybody, Well today we found these flooded fields of rice and traps for crayfish. It seems to be a big business around here. We had planned to go south to Cameron but its been raining cats and dogs here with some thunder thrown in too. Thought it best to stick closer to home for the day. (I finally found your yarn Ruth at W. Mart)
Another field of rice. We are at 25 feet above sea level here. We haven't seen much hurricane damage as yet.
Will be at this park until Thurs. when the weather is supposed to pass and be sunny for the next week. From there were not sure just yet. Hope y'all have a great day and we'll talk soon.Dee and Ron

Hi everybody, We are here in Fenton La. It poured all the way here from Texas. We made it through downtown Houston with Garmin doing a fine job and Ron did excellent too. We haven't firmed up plans in La. but do want to do some sightseeing before leaving.
Sorry there were no updates while in park but had a great time there.Did not see the biggest gator but I'm sure ther's lots here anyway.
We had some bad news that one of the regulars from Parkview died of massive heart attack. His wife Joy was the cake decorator instuctor from last year. She is going to miss him terribly.
Well bye for now, our wifi is in the laundry so it is a bit inconvenient to say the least. Talk later . De and Ron

Mon.March 1

Howdy everybody. Glad to hear your all enjoying our pics. Ron's having lots of fun taking them too. I do have a correction for you-this bird is a GREATER EGRET not a stork. Shows how much bird learning i still have to do. The pic of all the smaller birds were Franklin gulls.
Today were on the road again to Lake Texana St. park. just a bit east of here . We had wanted to go there instead of this rv park but it was full over the weekend. We can ride our bikes there and do more birding also. It wont have internet of course so its to the library in Edna again. By Fri were on the road again anyway.
Happy Birthday to Ruth on Wed. Hope you have a great day !!! I'll be thinking of you.
We heard from Mary and Tom and they made it safely to Georgia but had cold weather all the way. The 3rd death in the family this winter- so we really feel bad for them .Maybe we can catch up with them on our way home, who knows. After a good rain storm last night the skies have cleared and not a cloud to be seen. A high if 60 today so thats a good thing. Bye for now-talk to you when we get a chance this week Dee and Ron.
